Undergraduate Courses
Undergraduate degrees are the standard entry point for most geoscience careers. Our undergraduate courses are suitable both for school leavers and mature applicants, and all require attendance at classes due to their practical nature. They take three or four years of full-time study to complete, or longer if students study part-time.
For general information on studying geology and related subjects at Curtin please follow the links to What is geology?, Why study geoscience at Curtin? and Course Admission. Although our courses do not require specific high-school qualifications, students weak in science or mathematics might need to complete bridging courses before commencing study.
We offer two types of undergraduate course:
- The three-year Bachelor of Science is the standard geology qualification. The BSc (Applied Geology) provides comprehensive training for all geoscience careers, the BSc (Mineral Exploration and Mining Geology) focuses on the mining industry, and the BSc (Land and Water Resource Science) caters for those interested in land management - more information.
- Double degrees are four-year courses that give students two Bachelors qualifications and increase their career options. The BSc (Applied Geology) can be combined with several other disciplines, including geophysics, biology and finance - more information.
